The new school term usually starts during the last two weeks in August.  Children entering Kindergarten must be five years old by September 30th of that school year.  Children should be pre-registered at the Department of Child Welfare, 2423 6th Street, Lake Charles, LA 70601, phone # 437-1204.  Necessary documents to bring at the time of registration are:

  1. A birth certificate
  2. Immunization records
  3. Two utility bills to verify residence

Transfer students must also have their most recent report card or transcript for placement purposes.  Bus service is provided to students if they live more than a mile from their assigned schools. For more information, you can contact:
